Dr. Oluwatoyin Olugbemi holds a Ph.D. in Agronomy from the University of Ilorin, with a bias toward Crop Physiology. He graduated in 1995 with a B.Sc. (Second Class Upper Division) in Botany as the best in his class. He immediately proceeded to an M.Sc. in Agronomy degree in 1997 after the compulsory one-year national service. He has over 22 years of field experience in various fields of agronomy. From 2007 till date, he has been promoted to Deputy Director at the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Abuja. He was recently posted to the National Centre for Hydropower Research and Development (NACHRED), University of Ilorin.
With his vast expertise, he has conducted some commissioned research, including Research in Energy Policy Formulation and Implementation, National Energy Demand Projections using MAED, a modeling tool developed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Research in renewable energy and energy efficiency, Data gathering and analysis for the National Energy Databank Project. He enjoys studies on the impact of environmental changes on crop performance and mitigation strategies using organic substances, crop modeling using available tools such as Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer (DSSAT), GIS, and remote sensing application in crop production, and Agroecology, among others.
He is currently a Master’s student in Geographic Information Systems at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He has hands-on experience in crop production in line with the best global agronomic practices.
